Getting started on desktop

Start with your music. Add cloud later.

Play your local music on desktop without an account, or sign in for optional connected services. Set up a separate cloud password for encrypted cloud access.

Continue without an account, sign in with Google, or register with a username.

Choose how to start

Start with your local library or connect an account for online services.

  • Continue Without Account

Open your local library and play music available on this device. You can sign in later for connected services.

  • Sign in with Google

Choose Google under “Or sign in with” and complete sign-in. Cloud password setup is a separate step.

  • Register with a username

Choose “New user? Register” and complete the form. Next time, enter your username or email and account password, then choose Sign In.

A separate password for your cloud data

After sign-in, MyMusik may ask for a cloud password to access encrypted cloud data. It serves a different purpose from your account password or Google sign-in.

  1. Complete Cloud Password when you want encrypted cloud access. If you already have encrypted data, use its existing cloud password.
  2. Keep the password somewhere safe. Losing it can mean losing access to encrypted cloud data.
  3. Use the cloud controls to choose what to synchronize, upload or download, and check transfer progress.

Cloud services need an account, an internet connection and available storage allowance. Entering a password does not confirm that any transfer has completed.

Skip cloud setup for now

Choose Skip if you want to keep listening without setting up encrypted cloud access.

  1. Choose Skip (Überspringen in the screenshot).
  2. Continue with music already available on your device.
  3. To finish setup later, open Cloud and choose Cloud Password when the device needs a cloud key.

Control your desktop from another device

Use a phone, tablet or another computer as a browser remote on the same local network. Music plays on the computer running MyMusik. With playable local files, this connection works without internet.

  1. On your computer, open the profile menu → Insights → Connect a device. Enable Allow Remote Access in app settings.
  2. Open access settings with the shield button, select Remote playback and choose Apply. The default Read only access does not allow playback changes.
  3. On another device on the same network, scan your fresh QR code or open the link from Copy URL in a browser. The controlling device does not need MyMusik installed.

Keep MyMusik running and allow the devices to reach each other on your network. Online sign-in, cloud transfers and AI need their respective internet services.

A few useful details

Can I use MyMusik on desktop without an account?

Yes. Choose Continue Without Account to use your local library and play music available on the computer. Cloud, Community and AI services have separate account and connection requirements.

Do I have to set up cloud services after signing in?

No. Skip the cloud-password step and continue listening to music available on your device. You can return to cloud setup later.

What if I forget a password?

Use Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen to reset your account password. That does not recover your cloud password or guarantee access to existing encrypted cloud data.

Does signing in download my whole library?

No. Sign-in, cloud password setup and music transfers are separate steps. Open Cloud to choose what to access or download, and check that transfers finish.
